_seal1_ HAHA..occasionally emps pops into drop an advert..maybe he just has bot running now :)

Enigma is still around but must be fishing his brains out then, lucky bugger.

Someone cleans up after the spam squad pull in? I Like the civility of the place, I think we all have figured the place sorta runs itself..occasionally with someone picking up the cheques and paying the bills as its still online and the advertisers chop and change still.

I was totally oblivious to it, I was searching around on the internet one day and discovered the new website of Simen LOL didn't even know him and the other mods left, shows how much attention I pay :fbash.  Any case Im not registering on new websites any more, I am totally allergic to having to add your name and password to see the photos on a website so I didn't bother to register, neither on any of the other Sealine spin off websites, as I doubt I will post anything either.

I have been known to have 3 or 4 Tabs open on my PC in order to speed up the deleting of spam-post like the ones about a month ago from that twat advertising Louis Vuitton,Gucci en ander handsak-kakkies.

Sealine will always be the Encyclopedia of South-African fishing ,just pop a topic into the 'Search''-field if you don't believe me.

Die job loop.

There is so much info here, the newer folk should just utilize the search function instead of asking silly questions!!

;)..Hehehehe...I have a good chuckle when I think back to those days when those threads pitched up with all that BS funny posts the roofkykers couldnt stay away...the whiners couldnt stay away...and then the banning was rife and then FB groups were started and EVEN those fractured into secret little groups all over...hahahahahaah....times are tough in SA and egos get "damaged" very quickly and ALL and sundry is a fishing expert...BUT...I must admit....those days were some DAMN funny comments AND some DAMN fine advice inbetween all the bull dust and joking....

Seems site was very politicized in past, if my reading between the lines is correct?

Well some people take things too seriously, a site like this is intended for sharing information, sharing experiences, and all learning from each other in the subject of fishing.

Anyone who expects anything else should rather go into government and be part of the comedy forum.....

My personal view is that things have slowed down quite a lot the last couple of years. There were a couple of members who usually posted quite regularly but they seem to have left or they are not active. I was trying to get some info from Admin on Sealine Clothing since the Sealine clothing range has also gone missing in action.

I see many of the members asking and reflecting about the "good (or bad?) old days" joined the last few years. It is true that many of the so-called trouble makers have left the site and many of the old toppies have either moved on (literally) or simply got tired about some of the negative comments made when members post photo's of catches. I also visit the site less frequently.
But I must admit that I sometimes really miss those days. Admin admittedly frequently had to call us to order and some members were frequently suspended for up to a month at a time for transgressing the rules of the site.
But they came back every time and if you search back for info on any subject you will most probably see that the stuff with substance dates back to those days. Even this Lounge area was so busy that one had to page back several pages to read posts that were posted only hours before.
We had raffles and competitions on this site, with members trying to outbid each other, all for some or other good cause.
Sealiners were proud to wear the blue Sealine colours and when you meet a stranger on the beach, the first question you ask him, is his Sealine name. We were THE angling forum on the internet and anglers frequently referred back to the site for information on any angling related issue. Members were rewarded for their contributions to the contents and value of the site and when members were "promoted" in member status, everyone were quick to congratulate them.
But those days are long gone. The members who made it interesting to visit the site have left and most of the original Admin members also left. Some (two that I know of) even created their own sites.
Um...I'm rambling....I know, but sometimes one gets nostalgic about the good ol' days. Sigh...

Kaspaas,,,,Many a true word spoken, I for one could possibly be a 10 year-member,and I fondly recall the early-days... Like you mention, time waits for no man,and many other platforms have been generated. I would like to think that Sealine played a role in all and every other platform in South-Africa(many will deny it of course).

Be that as it may,in the archives(unfortunately some have been lost)is still a wealth of information, and anyone who don't believeme, I dare you to type in any fishing,or casting etc-related search-word in the search block.(comes with a warning ,hehehe).

En so loop die uurglas leeg.....

En so loop die uurglas leeg.....

we have enough chiefs here.

in the old days, too many chiefs....and all wanted to rule!!!!

all running smoothly for a reason.

lets keep it this way.....

the chiefs and soldiers that left...used to get personal.

you don't see the fights....that's good, this well oiled machine is running like clock work!!!

You know what I miss, the DIY stuff, or SL Museum stuff...the fights and assholes not, see what killed SL + UA is w/app and f/book....and way too many okes, started little groups and cells and new sites and new forums blah blah....SL remains a bible so to speak - if you want to "check" something out, you can just go in the old files, so I get into "Shark Fishing" I will just pull out some old posts etc.....Viola

Nice to see some of the old names pop up in this thread. And that famous Choc Nel contraption, those were some funny threads.

Yes, indeed I just did a check now, the fellow 'rylan" has only had sales and only replied to sales on SL.....so yes back in the day, SL did not tolerate free boarders....or free loaders
