Hello guys just thought I would share this photo with you , went calling for baber about 3 weeks ago at soetdoring nature reserve , used a mad pumpkinseed fast sinking on a 8 ft medium action rod with 50lb braid , I did not even call for 5 minutes and this gent took it.

Nice cat.

Looking at the waterline it seems that the Modder River's water level has gone up nicely since I was last there in mid April.

Nice fish!

I have never really tried with Mad pumpkin lures. Always bait and then used the popping method(sight fishing) with bait below, for a long time.

Might have to give this method a try, always wanted to.

Did you cast from the side or use a small boat and "klop" the water or how did you go about it?

Lekker! How many did you get for the day?

Mid summer we had some insane sessions there, easily getting more than 50 fish between two people in a morning session. But after that first cold snaps in April things changed drastically. Getting 10 fish a day between two people was a good session.

Back in SA in September/Bloem, keen to get back on the water!
