if you want to, fit your swivel if you want to.
the top slide will be silver soldered thus the short section on the tip.
the down side to silver solder is that there is plenty of heat and it could damage the swivel.

if no silver soldering, do the following.
place the slide into the work bench clamps.
and do not pinch the swivel.

now make 2 turns or even three. the more turns you make the heavier the slide will become.

then make a z bend in the wire, just like one would make with steel trace wire.

so from here, place the clip end into the slide maker 2mm hole.
you need to see that the length is not to short.
thus the slide turns need to be parallel with the slide shaft.
then make a 90degree bend in the wire.

now cut the clip to the distance which you want it to be.
make sure the tip has no sharp edges.

there you are!!!

if you want to you can make a bend in the shaft of the slide.
straight or bend, it will work.
the bending I have found assists in the keeping away of trace line from your main line.
so go catch some fish and post them pics here on sealine

right some other aspects.
your turned slide and shaft needs to be in line. thus parallel in all aspects.

3/4 ounce is quite heavy.

nog n ding is:

if turned the slide too far on the 4th turn "over coocked it" then you can just use some pliers to turn it back.
when the turn is too short, pliers will not allow you to turn the slide further.
you will use side cutters on 2mm wire.
the problem is that you might damage the smoothness of the slide with the side cutter.

so make sure you turn the slide till the two ends align.

if something is not quite clear, please do ask them questions.

happy turning!!!!

Do you think it would ok if I made the little frame out of wood? I don't have welding stuff...And I can't weld anyway.

I really don't know but don't think so.

I do realise that many guys don't have welding equipment or contacts to get it build.

so lets see how many guys would want one.
I can always build some and send them to you!

who is interested?

i did not forget about the stopper rings.
I have a idea or 2, but usually I would use tig wire here for stopper rings as tig wire bends very easy.

on the stopper ring I would use 2,4mm tig welding rods.
depending on size, I would clamp the tig welding rod tip onto a 14mkm steel round bar.
from there I would turn it by hand.
then when all is done I would cut trough all the rings with the small angle grinder, fit swivels and then silver solder them closed.

I like a big stopper ring.
but 12mm steel round bar will work as that is double the slide inside diameter.
you will never pull a slide over a stopper ring
