4 Days and Counting...

Hi Guys

Strange how a trip to the big blue dam can get a grown landlocked Valie - so hyped up!

The tackle has been packed and serviced, and some fresh traces have been made.

Only 4 days before my departure to Plettenberg Bay. Just the thought of fishing the big blue dam has kept me awake for the last week - and when I did manage to get some sleep, I've been fighting steamer steenbras in my dreams.

I also picked up some new drop shot tackle on Saturday. Daiwa Exceler 3000, loaded with 14Lb Fireline and a new 8" 2-piece medium-heavy Fenwick rod. Overkill? ... Yes, most definately ... Justified? ... Probably not. Fun? ... Hell yes!

The tackle was a "To Me ... from Me" birthday gift, which was in the begining of April.

The countdown for the flight on Friday has begun. Saturday morning early it will be me, the fresh salty breeze and the sound of the breaking waves on Keurbooms beach. Bring it on ...

I will try to report back to the forum from Plett. The laptop has to come with ... as the never ending chaos of my work follows me wherever I go and I need to stay in touch with our office. Funny how things always seem to fall apart just before you go on holidays ....

Anyways great week for all, and to those who manage to get some lines wet ... Tight lines!

Hey Man

you going to have so much fun, i was there for a week in March, didnt hit Keurbooms though, but i' found a good spot on the rocks infront of the Beacon Isle Hotel. Caught some nice Shad/Elf.

I stand on the otherside of the Hotel and cast towards Robberg Peninsula. There is alot of Karanteen/ Streepie around, so be sure to take some live bait rigs with, cause the Garrick aren't shy.

Anyways, im really envious of you, so enjoy it and you'd better post some pics when you get back.

Cheers

Fred

Ps. Stay away from the lookout rocks, its extremely dangerous there, i heard alot of stories of brutal muggings

Hey Fredman

Thanks for the heads up on Lookout. Such a shame that we have to worry about our safety everywhere in this country ... sad but something we all have to be aware of. Your warning is noted and I think I will avoid Lookout all together.

Hooking a Garrick would be awesome! So I will spend some time catching live bait at Beacon Isle. I can see my new drop shot kit is going to be working lekker hard.

Can anyone reccomend a good place to pick up some fresh tjokka in the Plet area?

How's the fishing at the Keurbooms river mouth? The spot seems promising.

Thanks guys - have fun. Keep on posting your stories/advice/pics as I have become a sealine junkie in the last week - this is such an awesome forum

Eish; Feel like a bit of a tit but isn't the river mouth part of lookout beach? Please Please Please tell me the Keurbooms river mouth is a safe spot.
