Merry Christmas guys, had a blast with some baby Dog Tooth tuna a couple of weeks ago, so have kitted out with some micro jigging gear. Will be receiving my Daiwa exist reel tomorrow - cant believe that i have crossed over, but apparently they have cookies![]() I am sure that micro jigs will work well in SA. Bought some UV tinsel and it glows like hell. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Merry Christmas, hope your stockings are stuffed with fishing gear: ![]()

Nice builds. Thanks for the detail. I tried some slow pitch jigging at Lazarus recently and got squat... D/shot however was the bomb. Fishies couldn't leave the plastics alone. I'll keep trying though. The Japs seem to make it work. I'll just have to become a ninja.

Hey Limpopo, Yeah, life has been a bit hectic with work the past 2 years so not much fishing done, but plenty of gear purchasing. I also kitted myself out with the full slow jigging outfits, and have not had much opportunity to use it yet, although i did catch 3 of those small Doggies on my light Evergreen Poseidon rod and it was cool to feel the difference on using the reel to crank the fish rather than the rod. I have blanked on 3 other trips and this was the first time that i used small jigs, so i reckon they work just as good as the plastics. Most of the jigs that i bought are tungsten so they will get down fast and they have a small profile. Cheers, Blass

Love the ultra light form of jigging every hit is something new and its not expensive to get into. Micro jigging is also cool but aware when shops are talking about micro jigging its 5 to 8lb braid and 5 to 7gr jigs. as for slow fall meh. from left to right starting at 6 grams and ending at 28gr Attachment: Micro jigs.jpg (Downloaded 234 times) Last edited on Sun Dec 13th, 2015 05:30 pm by Cam Mundy |

Hey Cam, Yeah, that micro jigging debate has been flogged to death on the other websites, i bought some of those Zetz Smelt tungsten jigs, they are only 35mm long, but they weigh 14g....unreal. Nothing cheap about the tungsten jigs, they are freaking expensive, but they are super deadly looking. I received my Daiwa Exist yesterday, and it is a thing of beauty....cant wait for Friday, hopefully the Doggies are still around! ![]()
