 How much does it matter?
I did look at photos of rigs here and elsewhere. And now I am even more cofused as there are so many different ways. You get rigs where the boilie can be snug against the hook, or even up to 2 inches away. The rig can be tied near die ogie of the hook, or in the middle of the shank, or at the bend of the hook.
What is mostly used by you guys?
I attached a few photos to show what I mean

This is where people get WAY too technical about rigs.

Plus there are 1000's more.

Your best bet is the second pic you posted a normal hair rig.
You need about 1 cm between your bait and your hook, too close and your hook wont get space to turn too far away and the fish wont swallow the hook.

Where your hair is tied depends on the rig you use/what hook you use/what bottom you fish and what bait you use.
Again the best all round rig is the second pic.

Don't get too technical with rigs allot of people try strange things that just don't work the normal hair rig has caught more fish than all the other rigs put together.

Or try tying 2 of each, setup multiple rods a few times with one of each trace on and see what works for your local fish? And tell the others ;)

Yip, TimJan has hit this one on the head.

Don't over complicate things, most times especially when starting out stick to the basics.

I have for years used a setup of mainline, mushroom sinker, swivel and a simple single hair rig. Caught many fish(including some big ones), on this and have never found a need to try fancy rigs.

I may add that I am not a specimen angler as such, I just like to catch fish and use this system, mainly in the Vaal river system.

By all means experiment but be careful of falling into the trap of over complicated rigs.

 I agree,
Keep it simple. For most situations a standard hair rig with some tubing on the hook and a few mm between the bend of the hook and the bait will suffice.
Experiment according to where you hook the fish, and your hook-up rate. Talk to other anglers when you are fishing, get someone experienced to show you.

Most people are friendly and willing to share knowledge.
That's how I learned.
