Guys, are there still some manufacturers that still produce good dedicated overhead/multiplier rods?
Also, will one be able to fish braid on them?
1. There are still multiplier rods on sale; less than before as more folks now use fixed spool reels; Assassin, Okuma and Daiwa all offer multiplier rods, some use the same blank some not.
2. By "stuff" I assume you mean stiff, with muliplier rods being stiffer, J curve and fixed spool "softer" C curve?
C curve rods work very well with multipliers, just slow down your casting stroke.
You can also use J curve blanks with a fixed spool.
I suspect C curve are more prevalent because of the braid+fixed spool thing, but aside from this, they are easier to load and easier on you.
3. Your question "Also, will one be able to fish braid on them?" - Do you mean can you fish braid on a multiplier with a J curve blank, or can you use braid on a stiffer J curve rod with a fixed spool? Yes to both. Your reel has an adjustable drag, it is not an on/off switch, back it off a bit with a stiffer rod and braid.
