We have this Mirror dingy (that won the Nationals in the late '70's I might add :-) )that we sometimes use for Bass fishing with a trolling motor on Inanda dam.
Structuarly it's in good condition and we have sailed it at Vetchies, Plett, etc during comps. and the past.
Obviously the...
A friend of mine had new deck stitched for this kayak in Gabon where he stays. (Took 6 mnths LOL)
It is a Klepper fold-up kayak and we found this morning that the deck is 300mm too short.
Are there people in the Dbn area that can do the job properly?
This was Tyrone's idea.
The perforted backing is held in place on the underside (inside) of the Supalite's hatch cover with Velcro. The whole rack can then be removed and rinsed with a hose pipe after a fishing trip.
The lure holder is made from slotted Perspex. It can hold at least 6 lures...
The pic below shows the plug ("Model") of an treble hook hood which will be used to make moulds.
It is intended for hooks sizes 5/0 to 8/0.
I must admit that it seems a bit "unreal" when you're used to make hoods for the more popular size hooks.!!
I heard this morning from a fellow paddle ski club member that a well organised group of locals are spreading pamphlets which state that visitors to Inanda dam do so at their own risk. The member said that he was told that their cars will be stoned if they tried to enter the reserve.
It has...
I have difficulty in paying over R2.00 for an inferior quality, Chinese imported piece of plastic to cover a treble hook.
This project was sparked by a posting by Tyrone Ter Bruggen when he enquired about the availability of properly designed treble hook guards.
In this thread I would like to...
When I started making these treble hook thingy's/guards it dawned on me how little I know about this little gadget that we put on at the end of our lines.
The object was to make a guard that would tightly grip various sizes and thinknesses of hooks and a latex rubber insert sorted out the...

This is the chain around the front of the ski. It also wraps around the carrier on the Venter trailer
Hi,
I made a locking mechanism to deter theft of our skis. Will post a pic later today.
It comprises some chains which I want to cover in a plastic sleeves similar to bicycle locking devices.
Does anybody know where these soft plastic sleeves can be obtained in Durban?
Thanks

Got this e-mail from French friend Michel:
What began as another exhilarating manta ray night dive off
Kailua-Kona, Hawaii on an August evening in 2010, quickly turned into
the theft of the century.
Cameraman Travis Matteson was capturing footage for the scuba diving

Mine is the first saltwater fish caught from a ski. A Needle Scale Queenfish caught at Vethies while trolling a metal spoon. Yes, now I know that that's not what metal spoons are meant for LOL
Idea "spawned" by Zulu-X-Treme
We grew up next to the Orange River and basically grew up on barbel (mostly curried). Dad used to make "voorslagriempies" from the baber skins.
However my uncle went ballistic about turtles (waterskilpad) which he baked whole in a braai and then ate. I tried...

On Friday afternoon (of the past long week-end) I walked on Glentana beach and noticed a man and his son that had just caught nice cob.
I strolled over and said :" Nice kob"
"Yes, got it on sardine"
"Are you a member of Sealine?" I asked out of curiosity.
"No but the kob is size" he said and...

Rather nervously I posted the question/contribution, whatever.
My posting appeared on screen (It worked!!)
Then I waited.
Nothing. no replies.
Refresh.
Other postings appeared above mine and they had responses.
No response to my...
Hi,
We'll be leaving Dbn next Thursday for George but has to do in one day - which I don't like. Leaving at about 3am which means that we'll hit the Transkei in dark if we go that route.
I've been told that a better option through the Transkei is via Matatiele.
Anybody know this road?
Or...
This very interesting, retired French oil-rig engineer was referred to me by Bruce of Stealth. He wants to have some modifications done to the frame-work of the kayak.
Apparently these kayaks were issued to some Special Forces German Para-troopers during the war.
They are still being...
